I got sick of chasing flatmates for power money.

So we built flat-tak in a 9-person Dunedin flat.

Between six different WhatsApp groups, a messy spreadsheet nobody updated, and the daily "whose turn is it to buy bin liners?", flatting was way more dramatic than it needed to be. We built flat-tak so you can keep the peace, pay your share, and never send an awkward text again.

Built by someone who actually flatted

flat-tak was created from the idea that there had to be a better way of managing my nine-person Dunedin flat

Hi! I'm Catherine and I was the one managing the bills, chased the same people every week and tried not to make it weird with people I actually liked living with. Running hundreds of dollars in bills off my personal bank account just wasn't sustainable so I went in search for a better way to do things.

I went looking for an app that could handle shared flat admin without the headache. When nothing fit, I decided to build one myself, with a little help from my mum, dad, and his mate.

Sustainable flatting matters

I care about how a flat runs and what it leaves behind. That's why sustainability isn't an afterthought here, it's a whole page. From recycling rosters to rubbish reminders, the app is designed to help your flat run well in every sense.
